Newsletter 1st August 2024
It seems like summer has finally decided to make an appearance in the UK.
It may last a day, it may last a week, but I am sure we will try to make the most of it!
Without further ado, please see what is happening at the Guildford Art Society and how
you can take part.
WHAT HAPPENED IN JULY
We had a great turnout for Joe Dowden’s watercolour demonstration - almost 50
attendees! -. Joe did a wonderful watercolour demonstration: from the initial drawing and
masking through to the final stages of painting water and reflections, we were able to
follow the creation of a beautiful work of art, gleaning helpful tips along the way.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, and we received a few
suggestions for artists to contact for future demonstrations. If there is an artist that you
would like to suggest, please do get in touch, and we will see what can be done!
Thanks to everyone who attended, and special thanks to Monica and Therese for
organizing another successful demonstration.

At Shalford Village Hall
Our Summer Exhibition will be at Shalford
Village Hall from Saturday, 17th August to
Monday, 26th August.
If participating, please ensure you have sent
your stewarding times to Monica and
reviewed the rules on how to present your
artwork to avoid disappointment and stress on
the delivery day.
Delivery day: Friday, 16th August (please see
the rules form for your allocated time).
Make sure you tell everyone about the
Exhibition so it can be a huge success!
WHAT’S ON THE HORIZON
After the Summer Exhibition, we will have another chance to
show our work to the public and sell it at our Pop Up on the
14th of September during Heritage Weekend in Guildford. It will
take place at Holy Trinity Church.
Last year, we had so many visitors and made great sales!
We will also have one more demonstration and another Pop Up
in the following months.
To see more, please check the programme on our website:
Guildford Art Society Programme.
