February Newsletter 2025
Dear Artist,
February, the month of love, brings with it the promise of spring. Have you spotted the first
signs—snowdrops and primroses? Are you capturing their beauty on canvas, or are you braving
the cold for some plein-air painting?
Whether you're creating from the warmth of home (cuppa and blanket included) or venturing
outside for inspiration, we’re sending you creativity, encouragement, and some important updates!
WHAT HAPPENED IN JANUARY
We started the year with an inspiring event!
On Saturday, 25th January, we had the pleasure of welcoming forty members and guests to Roger Dellar's oil painting demonstration.

Roger painted an evocative and vibrant street
scene, taking us step by step through its
development. He gave us comprehensive and
detailed explanations of so many aspects of his
painting process: including composition,
perspective, palette, colour and tone to name a
few. He talked of how he aims to take the
viewer through a focal journey through his
paintings.
The attendees all thoroughly enjoyed the
session and found it very worthwhile -
feedback was hugely positive!
Thank you to Roger and to everyone who
attended. We look forward to seeing you next
time!

WHAT COMING
ANNUAL SUMMER EXHIBITION 2025
We have big news to share for the year ahead: we have a confirmed date for our much-anticipated Summer Exhibition!
Exhibition Dates: 2nd – 10th of August 2025
Private View: 1st of August 2025 ( evening).
New Venue: Merrow St. John’s Centre 222 Epsom Road, Guildford GU4 7AA
After much discussion and careful consideration, the committee has decided to move from Shalford Village Hall to Merrow St John’s Centre. We’re excited about this new space because it has recently been renovated, has plenty of natural light, and we believe it will be a great move for the Summer Exhibition. The new venue moves us closer to Guildford and is in a very well-connected spot—with free parking just 200m away—and it will help us gain higher visibility (we’re already planning eye-catching banners and A A signs!).Overall, it is a more cost-effective venue, and we are dedicated to making this year's Summer Exhibition a very enjoyable and successful event.
